Camp Cool Environment Calendar for 2024

Week 1: 7/1-7/3 Games, Game, Games (No camp 7/4 and 7/5)

This is a short week due because camp will be closed on July 4th and July 5th, but it won’t be short on fun! Play all kinds of games and create your own, too!

Week 2: 7/8-7/12 Animals Everywhere
This week is all about animals. From wild animals to domestic pets, to animals that fit in the palm of your hand to animals as that weigh as much as two SUVs. You name the animal and the campers will probably learn about it this week.

Week 3: 7/15-7/19 WIMNI Olympics

On your mark, get set, go! It’s time for the wacky WIMNI Olympics! The WIMNI Olympics will be fun for all campers, regardless of their athletic skills. This week will feature team as well as individual competitions and will feature a variety of silly, fun events.

Week 4: 7/22-7/26 Outdoor Adventures
It’s time to explore local hiking, walking, and nature trails, and learn about local plants, animals, geography, and history. Each day will be full of new discoveries, whether the campers are learning about the Indigenous People who lived along the Raritan River, the history of the Delaware and Raritan Canal towpath, or learning about trees and flowers in NJ.

Week 4: 7/29-8/2 Science Week
Science isn’t a snooze! The campers will perform experiments with everyday items, learn about scientists who call(ed) NJ home, and more!

Week 6: 8/5-8/9 Theatre Week
Everyone can be a star this week at camp! The campers will work with the volunteens and camp staff to create and perform short plays. They’ll develop the plots, come up with a cast of characters, write the scripts, and more!

Week 7: 8/12-8/16 Farm Fun
Take an in-depth look at why NJ is called the “Garden State.” Discussions and activities will center around the different types of farms that are found in NJ (did you know NJ was home to the first Christmas tree farm?), sample some of the fruits and vegetables that NJ is famous for growing, and plan a farm of their own.

Week 8: 8/19-8/23 Bugs!
This will be a week full of activities and discussions about Monarch butterflies, the dreaded spotted lantern fly, ladybugs, and more. Campers will learn about all kinds of insects, as well as the roles insects play in balancing the environment and the problems invasive species of insects can cause to crops and other plantlife.
